Cannot connect with alternate provider gitter.im

Steps to reproduce

My provider is not matrix.org but gitter.im

1. First I click on change provider
2. Select Other
3. Whatever I type in the search input (gitter.im or https://gitter.im/) I just get a looking glass with the text gitter.im
4. Click on it
5. Click on continue

What did you expect?

A connection next step page

What happened instead?

A popup that says "Cannot reach server ... please check the URL ..."

And the URL it is trying is not reported, so I cannot check if there is a mistake or not.
