I saw a few older issues mentioning imaging based technologies and the problem lies in finding neighbors. My package SpatialFeatureExperiment wraps around many methods to find spatial neighbors and stores the spatial neighborhood graph in the SFE object for book keeping, and so that the graph doesn't need to be re-computed for thing like Moran's I and for BayesSpace. This should help with imaging based data. Would you like to write a method of spatialCluster for SFE?
