P8: Backward compatibility with legacy system

Systems maybe either blockchain or non-blockchain and are built overtime with different technology and stack architecture.

This seems like it has three distinct elements:

  1. backwards compatability with existing systems
  2. forwards compatability with future systems (to allow continual improvement and gradual adoption)
  3. ability to implement with different technology stacks

Is this what you meant?

If the principles say that blockchain and non-blockchain technologies could be used, should they identify important chacteristics of the technology (where blockchain is an example technology that with those characteristics)?
