<h2>About the Client</h2>

<p>GirlsHelpingGirls (GHG) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to raising the status of women through education. They accomplish this through a three-pronged holistic approach:</p>
<ul>
<li>Build schools to support a healthy and stimulating learning environment.</li>
<li>Provide teachers with the proper training and resources so they can best support their students.</li>
<li>Create scholarships for students to go to school.</li>
</ul>
<p>GHG has been able to make this holistic approach a reality by building two schools in Jamaica, providing teacher training in Afghanistan, and by creating scholarships for girls in South Africa, Jamaica, and Kenya.</p>

<h2>About the Project</h2>
<p>GirlsHelpingGirls has partnered with Development Solutions Organization (DSO), a volunteer-driven nonprofit consultancy, to redesign the <a href="http://girlshelpinggirls.ca/">GHG website</a>. The primary goals of the website update are to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Convey a more modern, professional yet philanthropic brand image to attract higher value donations</li>
<li>Better convey the mission, story, and impact of the organization</li>
<li>Allow donors to understand the impact of their specific donations</li>
<li>Make the website SEO-optimized and mobile-friendly</li>
</ul>
<p>The project will last from October to December 2016, culminating in a final presentation to key internal and external stakeholders.</p>

<h2>Your Role</h2>
<p>As a DSO consultant, you will be part of a small, highly collaborative team of student volunteers from Stanford and professional volunteers from the Bay Area's top companies.</p>
<p>Your responsibilities will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Designing and coding pages for GHG's new website</li>
<li>Conducting user testing to validate your designs (show early, show often)</li>
<li>Reviewing and critiquing your teammates' work</li>
<li>Regularly presenting your work to Susanna, founder of GHG, via Google Hangouts</li>
</ul>
<p>Your impact potential:</p>
<ul>
<li>Empower GHG to create more opportunities for girls to go to school</li>
<li>Create work that will be highly visible within the education and nonprofit communities</li>
<li>Apply the technical skills you've learned in class to make a global impact</li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>You're pursuing a career in software engineering or product design</li>
<li>You've built things with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript</li>
<li>You're familiar with the basic principles of responsive web design</li>
<li>You're a self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively</li>
<li>You're passionate about women's education and international development</li>
<li>You can contribute 3-5 volunteer hours per week throughout Fall Quarter</li>
