Youtube rolling count-up number animation on views is all screwed up #80

I just switched to Wayland on KDE Plasma 6 and the silly Youtube number animation is really screwed up. I tried using a userscript to block the animation but the numbers are still all jumbled in position when they change even if there is no rolling animation.

It seems to get more scrambled faster if you increase the page zoom. Tested on Floorp and for whatever reason I'm not seeing the same behaviour there.

Can you please link to a page where this happens? I can't reproduce it 👀

Really? Every single Youtube video does it for me, but you need to watch something popular so the views or likes increase while you are watching. Although the "minutes ago" counter should always do it, you just need to stare at it for a while. The longer it counts up, the more screwed up it gets. The like counter seems to start off screwed up even. Here is the video I was just watching:

And here's what it looks like on my screen below the video:

Just let it play for a few minutes and it should look all crazy. If not... well I have no idea what's wrong with my system, but like I said it does this for every video, but only for Firedragon, not other browsers.

firedragon 1:11.11.1-1
Garuda KDE Dr460nized gaming edition
Kernel: 6.8.1-zen1-1-zen
Radeon RX 6950XT
amdgpu driver
wayland 1.22.0-1
plasma-desktop 6.0.2-4

I am also unable to reproduce this on 2 different devices 🫤 what extensions are used?

Wow. Ummm, none... since I disabled all my extensions to test this.
Extensions have no effect, it's just as screwed up regardless.

Any other ideas what I can check to figure out what's different about my system?

Can you try to create another profile and see if it happens there? Did you migrate any things from the previous version, or set custom flags?

Ah yes, that helped me figure out the exact cause...

Go into Firedragon settings, set default zoom to 120% and check "Zoom text only". Now go to Youtube and the likes counter on videos will be all scrambled.

I checked Floorp again, no problem in Floorp with these settings.

So it seems I still can't replicate it sadly. These settings were done:

Let the provided video play for ~5 minutes, reloaded page multiple times as well :/

Alright, I don't know what else to do to help. It's very broken on my system with 'zoom text only' turned on, which I would really prefer to use. But if there's no hope getting this reproduced I guess I just have to leave it off. But the bug exists!

Reproduced [intermittently] on current Floorp with default zoom at 100% and 'zoom text only' unchecked.

Reproduced [intermittently] on current Floorp [...]

If this is reproduced at the Floorp level, an issue should be opened there so they can check if/what they can do about it and from there if a fix is made we then see how it lands on Firedragon.

On the other end, Floorp is about to release v12.0 with some major rewrites. Maybe it's worth waiting a little bit more and see if this will get any better with v12.0.
