When I try to mount the empty dir volume I get:

error mounting "/var/lib/kubelet/pods/4a8aca9f-69e1-4385-b63f-2011b806dafd/volumes/kubernetes.io~empty-dir/secrets-init" to rootfs at "/secrets-init/bin": open o_path procfd: open /run/containerd/io.containerd.runtime.v2.task/k8s.io/secrets-init/rootfs/secrets-init/bin: not a directory: unknown
