Things to do after installing Pop!OS

Update Mirrors

If you live far from the US. Increase apt update speeds by switching to the closest mirror. Here replace XX with your country code:
sudo sed -i 's|http://us.|http://XX.|' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/system.sources

DNS

Use the following commands to change your dns server systemwide:
sudo systemctl stop systemd-resolved
sudo systemctl disable systemd-resolved
sudo rm /etc/resolv.conf
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager
sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
Insert your dns provider's nameservers.
i.e.
nameserver 1.1.1.1
nameserver 1.0.0.1

Update

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt full-upgrade && sudo apt dist upgrade
sudo apt autoremove && sudo apt autoclean
flatpak update
reboot

Change Hostname

hostnamectl set-hostname YOUR_HOSTNAME

Codecs

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Go through Settings

Check all the settings and configure as needed.

Get Stock Gnome (if you want to)

Turn off cosmic gnome extensions
sudo apt install gnome-sesssion
Log out and switch to gnome from the cog wheel

Firefox

git clone https://github.com/EliverLara/firefox-nordic-theme && cd firefox-nordic-theme
./scripts/install.sh -g -p *.default-release
also set: media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled: true layers.acceleration.force-enabled : true

Battery Life

sudo apt install powertop
sudo powertop --auto-tune

Theming

Use themes in Flatpaks

sudo flatpak override --filesystem=$HOME/.themes
sudo flatpak override --env=GTK_THEME=my-theme

sudo apt install fonts-cantarell
