Video 1 describes the system as using the Open Annotation Data Model. Be aware that
the Web Annotation Data Model should stabilize soon:

Currently there is a W3C Candidate Recommendation ( 22 November 2016).

The most relevant part from your purposes is:

If you want to contribute feedback, this would be the time to do it. Candidate recommendations are generally fairly stable, but small changes may be made before the proposed recommendation and recommendation stages.
