Describe the bug

When I set the playback quality of Shorts video to “Best, if the video has 1080p Premium option, the video will play in 144p after a few second.

Note: If i use 1080p/1080p60, the app will crash if there’s “1080p Premium” option (YTUHD issue iirc)

Steps to reproduce

1. Set Shorts video playback quality in YTPlus settings to “Best”
2. Find a video with 1080p Premium quality option
3. It’ll play at 144p after a few sec

There is a similar bug for the latest v5.1 YouTube Plus. If I set the short video quality to 720p or 480p, or whatever quality under 1080p, the app will load the first short video with the set quality but pre-load the next short video with 1080p (if you watch the first video for enough long time, the next video will be fully pre-loaded with 1080p quality). Is it possible to solve this issue?

thats how shorts quality works. even if it shows 1080 it will be 480 and applies it in 5-10 seconds. i’m not sure why it works like that but it is what it is

I guess it’s because the next shorts has been fully pre-loaded with 1080p quality and then reload with the set lower quality after played for several seconds, which totally defeated the purpose of quality setting, as we want to save some network bandwidth by setting lower quality.
