Describe the bug

Basically in the last week or so I started getting freezes when playing selected videos or even visiting certain channels, but definitely not the all of them, though quite frequently and randomly. What happens is I start a video and the UI completely shuts down, the screen doesn’t respond and the video keeps going for a few seconds before YT crashes. I’m on 19.39.1-5.0.2 and  it worked fine for a good month baby before the issue appeared. 

To fix it I tried other YT versions first but the bug kept happening till I had a hunch and tried disabling the Old UI option in the Interface tab form Youtube Plus, now everything works fine except I kinda liked having the Old UI, so maybe we can find a fix for this?

Steps to reproduce

19.39.1-5.0.2

Activate “Old UI” option.
Tinker around until you find a video or a channel that freezes.

YouTube removing old ui compatibility from their servers, I may remove this option in the next public release

I love this option soooo much.

I encountered this behavior too but strangely after I updated to the v5.1 it worked with the old Ui for 1 or 2 days without any freezes, it worked like a charm.

isn’t it a good sign in some way?

I test the old UI via a info.plist spoof and for now it works fine.
I spoofed it to v18.30.5

would be nice if you can test it too @jouzka

You don’t have to implement a info.plist into ipa the .plist already exists in there.

I edited the YouPlus.ipa in Esign.
here is a little video that hopefully shows what I did and I hope it’s easy for you to follow the steps, if not just ask me.

In Esign I unzip the ipa, it appears a payload folder.
The I go into the folder via „view files“, then into the YT folder and there is a info.plist file, then you open the file in the „plist editor“ after you edited the plist file go back and tap on the YT folder and resign it.

So far, I encountered no freeze or any other kind of issues in my every day use case but maybe @jouzka found something, i hope not
