As described in this post, I followed your steps and used this PBF file to generate visualizations of every street in Brazil:

streets_proc_scaled
streets_proc_inv_scaled

Just as a heads up to someone trying the same, I tweaked the final output image by hand (removing the long lines) because some streets were glitched:

2016-01-11-162844_580x535_scrot

Maybe some incoherent data in the original PBF?

Nevertheless the result is really interesting and I can share the generated SVG too if you'd appreciate. Thank you.

Vilson, that is looking very nice 👍

Have you used the code from the article http://danburzo.ro/every-street or the latest from this repo?

I've used the latter to generate the map of Brazil:

(The data in both files is passed through simplify.js with a tolerance of 0.5px)

Update: Some of the streets on Gisgraphy are missing from the Geofabrik one, I wonder if it's just data that's been removed from OSM, a side-effect of simplify.js, or a bug in the code...

Thanks Dan!

I used the code from this repo, basically following the steps suggested on README.

Thank you for the SVG files! Can I link to them on an updated version of my post?

Sure, feel free to use them in any way you see fit :-)
As for the glitches, I'm out of ideas for now...
