traceshark (1.0-rc) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium
* Update qcustomplot to 2.1.1 from upstream.
* Add a button for exporting statistics to the statistics widgets.
* Make StatsLimitedModel a subclass of StatsModel in order to remove copy
pasted code. The statistics code is moved to StatsModel.
* Do not add leading spaces to statistics percentages less than 100.
* Report error from failed export of a trace.
* Make the behavior of file formats and suffixes more uniform. The user will
be able to override the file format in the file dialog. The default format
will be the one requested by the user in the widget but it is still
possible to change it in the file dialog by selecting the proper suffix
in the combo box of the file diaglog. If the user types in a valid suffix
in the file name textbox that will be honored.
* Make some string constant members of MainWindow instead of creating and
destroying them on the stack.
* Make perf sched_wakeup argument parsing work with newer perf.
* New feature: Allow the user to change the color of a task.
* New feature: save manually selected colors.
* New Feature: Make it possible to reset task colors.
* Make it possible to export from the regular task dialog.
* Change menu text and tooltip for the settings dialog.
* New feature: Add a color button to the task selector dialogs, this allows
the user to select color from the task selector and statistics dialog.
* Require pid to be positive for graph operations. Tasks with a pid of 0, or
negative can no longer be added to the legend having a unified graph or
changing the color. This tasks are not real.
* Add icons to push buttons to the task select and statistics dialogs.
* Change the name of "task graphs" to "unified graphs" in the UI.
* Use std::move() in order to fix CID 1566290, 1566288, 156287, and 1575567
in Coverity.
* Use icons in the push buttons in the regex dialogs.
* Use icons in the push buttons in the latency widget.
* Use icons in the push buttons in the CPU select dialog.
* Use icons in the push buttons in the event select dialog.
* Use icons in the settings dialog.
* Fix bug where png icon was used instead of svg icon.
* Add support for building with Qt6.
* perf-record.sh: Do not try to automatically use more than 1G of buffers.
* Improve support for modern kernels with respect to the parsing of the state.
of the previous task in sched_switch events.
* Replace the icon for settings and selecting graphs.
* Parse and display the Ftrace flags field. This field has always been
in /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace{,_pipe} but now it's also present
the output from trace-cmd.

traceshark (0.9.14-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Added commented out options for newer compiler the file traceshark.pro
* perf-record.sh: add option to specify alternative perf command
* New feature: identify ghost tasks. Ghost tasks are tasks that appears as
as event tasks of sched_switch events but are neither oldpid, nor newpid.
They are of interest because the same tasks also appears as the event task
of sched_wakeup and sched_waking events. In the widgets showing lists of
tasks, ghost tasks will be displayed with red foreground and cyan
background.
* What appears to be a bug was fixed in processSwitchEvent()
* Some members of AbstractTask was made static.
* Some code that was duplicated across StatsModel, StatsLimitedModel, and
TaskModel was moved into their common parent class AbstractTaskModel.
* Some corner cases of tasks with negative pids where corrected in
MainWindow.
* The TList class was modified to be more compatible with QList and QVector,
so that swap() and swapItemAt() now performs the same operations.
* CID 1530657 and CID 1530656, two newly detected Coverity issues, were
fixed. Both have been lurking in the code for a long time but apparently
they were only discovered now because of some new feature in Coverity.

traceshark (0.9.13-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Update QCustomPlot to 2.1.0.
* Unbreak the build for macOS.
* Use the time of the sched_switch event for wakeup latency.
* Add a feature to be able to display scheduling latencies with a button.
* Add a feature to be able to display wakeup latencies with a button.
* Improve the description of the latency settings in the settings widget.
* Add documentation to the README.md for the two new buttons for displaying
wakeup and scheduling latencies.
* Fix CID 1510793 in Coverity.
* Shorten exportTraceFile() by moving code into a new function.
* Fix some bugs in vtl/time.h that currently have no impact.
* Implement the possibility for exporting latencies.
* Handle the case when consecutive sched_switch events on the same CPU have
exactly the same timestamp. The handling is artistic rather than
scientific; we add some time between the events.
* Add handling for ftrace wakeup event missing the success parameter,
including older version that inserts a warning about it missing.
* Improve the handling of missing wakeup events. No schedluing or wakeup
latency will be calculated if there is no reasonble wakup or
schec_switch event preceding the task being scheduled.

traceshark (0.9.12-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Fixed a bug that results in bad drawing performance when traceshark is built
with OpenGL support but linked against a QCustomPlot library that was not
built with OpenGL support. This bug currently seem to affect traceshark
in both Debian and Ubuntu.
* Improved shortcuts.
* Got rid of bzero() usage that caused compiler warning.
* Removed dead code.
* Added the new regex filtering feature that allows to filter events based on
regular expression filtering of the event arguments.
* Coding style improvements.
* Polished the "About Traceshark" message.
* Removed duplicated code.
* Added a new feature to let the user save the preferred window size.
* Change of behavior: filtering is updated when filtering options are changed.
* Added commented out compiler flags to traceshark.pro for newer
architectures.
* Updated the screenshot in the documentation.
* Make all dialogs parents of the MainWindow. This should keep them better
centered on the main window and also make it impossible to close the main
window and still leave the application running with only a dialog from
which a new main window cannot be launched.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Sun, 09 May 2021 20:47:32 +0200
traceshark (0.9.11-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Add the new Event menu. It has actions for displaying the backtrace,
filtering, and moving the cursor. These actions can also be triggered by
double clicking on the corresponding column of the currently selected event.
* The actions in the above mentioned menu to filter based on the selected
event are new.
* The selction policy of the events view has changed. Now a whole row is
always selected.
* The menus have been improved with keyboard shortcuts and the incorrect
repetition of "Remove task graph" has been corrected.
* README.md has been updated with a new screenshot and some updates to better
describe the current version.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Sun, 27 Sep 2020 18:54:07 +0200
traceshark (0.9.10-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Add an option to traceshark.pro to use the system qcustomplot library. It is
not recommended to use this feature unless you must.
* A small cleanup of the modifications to the QCustomPlot library.
* Add a diagnostic message when closing the trace takes longer than 1 second.
* Fix statement in the QCustomPlot attribution dialog when we use the system
QCustomPlot.
* Add a desktop file: traceshark.desktop.
* Add a manpage: doc/traceshark.1
* Change the default zoom to not necessarily show the whole vertical space
in case the trace has many CPUs. The old default zoom button has been
renamed and still has its old functionality, i.e. the old default zoom
behavior. The new default zoom button triggers the new default zoom.
* Add a vertical scrollbar that is visible when the whole trace doesn't fit
vertically.
* Add support for building and running traceshark on macOS. traceshark is
usable on macOS but it's fairly untested and there are some known bugs:
- The "About QCustomplot" menu item is missing.
- The vertical scrollbar for scrolling the plot in the vertical direction
doesn't work. This means that it's necessary to select the y-axis and
use the mouse to grab and scroll.
* Add a button to enable vertical zoom.
* Use SVG graphics for icons.
* Add some basic support for HiDPI displays.
* Increase the size and line width of accessory graphs (preempted,
uninterruptible, and still running) when the line width of scheduling
graphs is increased.
* Make it possible to increase the line width of idle and frequency graphs.
* Make it possible to increase the line width of the migration arrows.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Sun, 02 Aug 2020 16:42:41 +0200

traceshark (0.9.8-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* New feature: tasks, zoom, cursors, task selections, unified graphs and
legends are restored after changing settings in the graph enable dialog.
* New feature: if the button to show a dialog is pressed a second time, i.e.
if the dialog is already visible, then the dialog will be hidden.
* The button to add a legend is only enabled if the operation is possible.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Tue, 12 Mar 2019 21:19:07 +0100
traceshark (0.9.7-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* In the task select dialog and in the statistics dialogs a task can be
selected by double clicking and in this case the state was not correctly
updated. This has now been fixed.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Wed, 27 Feb 2019 09:00:21 +0100
traceshark (0.9.6-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium

* New feature: excessive migrations (> 200k) are not displayed by default but
the user can chose to see them in the graph enable dialog.
* New feature: two new zoom buttons have been added. One for cursor zoom and
the other for default zoom.
* New feature: a new buttons for removing all unified scheduling graphs has
been added.
* The performance of QCustomPlot with respect to opening and closing traces
has been improved. This has been accomplished with QCPList, the new custom
container class that has been added to the qcustomplot directory.
* The buttons for removing unified graphs are only enabled if a unified graph
is in the plot.
* The button for clearing the legend is only enabled if there is at least one
task in the legend.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Wed, 20 Feb 2019 22:39:00 +0100
traceshark (0.9.4-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* MainWindow: Improved menu text.
* MainWindow: Increase size of uninterruptible sleep to 12.
* Improve file dialogs for uniformity and so that less errors are generated.

traceshark (0.9.3-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Bug fix: an uninitialized variable issue was found with valgrind.
* Fixed three Coverity issues: CID 1476427, CID 1476428, and CID 1476429.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Sat, 05 Jan 2019 23:36:26 +0200
traceshark (0.9.2-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Files greater than 2GB can now be opened on 32-bit platforms. Tested with
Raspbian on Raspberry Pi 3, i.e. ARM 32-bit.
* Add an option for specifying the stack size to perf-record.sh.
* Add SPDX-identifiers to source files.
* The task selection logic has been improved. If a task is selected now, then
traceshark will first try to find a task graph to select, and if that fails
it will select the CPU graph with the largest number of scheduling events.
* A couple of bugs in the display of preempted graphs were fixed. Previously
it could happen that no preempted graphs were displayed, unless there also
were a still running graph for the same task.
* Uninterruptible sleep is now shown with magenta colored plus signs.
* The markers for still running and preempted were changed to triangles,
previously they were small circles.
* sched_waking from another task is included in the events that are concerned
with inclusive PID filtering.
* README.md was updated to describe how still running, preempted and
uninterruptible sleep is displayed.
-- Viktor Rosendahl <[email protected]> Thu, 03 Jan 2019 13:21:00 +0200
traceshark (0.9.1-beta) RELEASED; urgency=medium

traceshark (0.3.2-alpha) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* Now it's possible to export filtered events, so that one can for example
generate a flame graph of what has been filtered. If one wants to generate
a flamegraph, then it's best to filter on cpu_cycles events and any
additional conditions that are wanted, such as pid and time.
* There is an error dialog that reports an error if a file cannot be opened
or if the exporting of events fails.
* The about dialog contains information about the compiler version and the
build time.
* The traceshark.pro has been equipped with a lot of commented out flags to
build for a certain CPU, build with clang, or to do a debug build. The debug
build is no longer the default.
* Traceshark uses fixed point to calculate time. This means that the rounding
problems related to floating point calculations should be a thing of the
past.
* Traceshark was modified to cope with the output from the 4.14 kernel.
* Compiler warnings where fixed for gcc-7.3.
* Qt 5 is now the default and recommended version.

the traceshark source files under the two clause BSD license. In other
words the traceshark files will be dual licensed.
* The included QCustomPlot will remain under GPL version 3 or later.

traceshark (0.2.0-alpha) RELEASED; urgency=medium
* A new dialog for choosing a task from a list that includes all tasks.
* The TraceEvent class has lost the eventName field. Thus, the event type is
only recorded by an integer that will be increased for every new event type
(name) that is encountered in the trace.
* strcmp() is used in the StringPool instead of home brewed function.
* The perf grammar is extended to parse events that has an extra integer
number in front of the event name, and only one semicolon in the event
name. This includes a number of HW related events. This change makes them
show up in the events widget.
* HOWTO for images is added.
* Two new tool bars are added in the left toolbar area. These are for opening
and closing a trace and for showing the task dialog.
* The push buttons in the InfoWidget are made into toolbar buttons. This was
partially done in order to make them appear similar to the buttons of the
toolbars that were added.
* There has been and effort to disable UI elements that are not able to do
anything useful when no trace is open. This is true of all the toolbar
buttons that somehow relates to an open trace and the input fields for
cursor time values, in fact it related to almost every actionable item,
except the button to open a new trace and the menu items in the Help menu.
* Icons are added to the actions in the menu system.
