[Bug] Dark mode, side nav turns light on resize

Steps to reproduce

1. Convert to dark mode.
2. Resize the window.
   (on mobile, it stays light without resizing)

What is expected?

the side-nav stays dark

What is actually happening?

the side-nav turns light

Solution

we can store the theme option in a local variable or a cookie and use the value to instruct the functions on how to behave.
*I thought it best to contact you rather than missing with the code as you're the ones most familiar with it
