Bad git object on copier update

Describe the problem

When using copier update, I get:

plumbum.commands.processes.ProcessExecutionError: Unexpected exit code: 128
Command line: | /usr/bin/git diff-tree -r --diff-filter=D --name-only HEAD dcff05a5dd1bca4ad8c62a1a67fd40534b00efe8
Stderr:       | fatal: bad object dcff05a5dd1bca4ad8c62a1a67fd40534b00efe8

This is with copier version 9.4.x as there are is no issue with copier 9.3.x.

I see there's already this issue mentioning the problem as well as a PR to fix it.
Is it possible to bump the version in this case?
