I thought more about "what I would like to teach people like my colleagues in an instructor training", also inspired by the HPC carpentry instructor training and what we could offer to some other organization for CR sustainability. Here is what I came up with - it all seems obvious to us but not so much to others. "instructor training" may not be the right name for it, though. Also not everything goes in every workshop. This will be transferred to an issue after more discussion:
how to make materials
scoping learner personas and the place in learning hierarchy
github pages / various template option
git links, enough to do the above
installation instructions
How to run workshop
How to teach
hackmd mechanics
zoom mechanics
Helpers
breakout rooms, helpers
registration strategies for breakout rooms
live streaming: benefits and why/why not?
recording
Sharing lessons
benefits of open license + open project
single-use vs reusable
yourself, via github
CodeRefinery network (more later)
carpentries network
Collaboration tools
Also in git-collab and other CR lessons, some could be mentioned here, too.
project/task management. Project boards, how to use issue, how to give feed back to a PR
Good suggestions. These are important additionally because, CR may get to offer this course more audience in the near future, now has a social responsibility
We could make new issues about these, but I think it might be better to re-think what all the episodes are from first principles, and then sort existing material (+new stuff) into there. It's at the point that I have trouble knowing where new stuff goes, and how it fits in. It should also be OK to make smaller episodes (so that one session uses multiple episodes).
