While the "disabled" attribute allows rules to be ignored without removing 
them, it still
requires modification of the hamakefile itself even for temporary enablement or 
disablement of
specific rules.

The attached patch enables variable substitution within the value of the 
"disabled" attribute
on DTRs, which allows system properties or environment variables to be used to 
switch rules on
and off without hamakefile modification.
