Decide on an app-wide approach to grammatical gender for Spanish translation

  • Default masculine (eg. 'Latino,' 'Los abogados,' etc...)
  • Gender neutral 'X' (eg. 'Latinx,' 'Lxs abogadxs,' etc...)

Default masculine is the traditionally grammatical choice and probably expected from a formal resource like this. In plural nouns, it is still technically inclusive of multiple genders.
The 'X' is considered more gender-inclusive and is increasingly recognized, but could be confusing if a user isn't accustomed to it already.

A possible middle ground is to use the 'X' in singular nouns, and default masc in plural

We want to check in with Caroline as well.

Translations currently defaulting to 'X'
