Starts too many processes in the background

I have a very large project. I forgot I had this running.

I think it started over 2000 python programs on my computer, forcing me to restart it at one point due to reaching the process limit on my Mac. At least, I strongly suspect this extension was the cause. When I realized what was happening early enough this time, and killed all the python processes, VS code suddenly had many pop-ups about failures in the bottom right that were all linking back to this extension.

My bad, I thought this was the library for the VSCode extension.
