Feather is a fast binary format for data tables for R and Python developed originally by Rstudio and now taken over by apache arrow: https://arrow.apache.org/docs/python/feather.html

It would be good to be able to serve feather directly as an option for e.g. query results for (1) performance and (2) column data types
