In the existing and currently-proposed versions of the scheduler lesson, e-mail notifications are not handled well. The prior version essentially says to read the manual, and the content has been removed from the version that's in PR #389.
Is there a good way to handle this? Different queuing systems do it differently, and a transient AWS cluster or Magic Castle set-up may not have e-mail capability, but the ability to assess a job's status and get notifications when its state changes seems like an important function to capture.
