The study of the origin, nature, functions, types, and interrelations of values; value theory of a Philosophy. Axiology includes Ethics and Aesthetics.
Cultural Definition
(uncountable, philosophy) The study of the origin, nature, functions, types, and interrelations of values; value theory.
(countable) The particular value theory of a philosopher, school of thought, etc. "In his axiology, G. E. Moore maintains that "good" is the name of a simple, indefinable quality."
Axiology (from Greek ἀξίᾱ, axiā, "value, worth"; and -λόγος, -logos) is the philosophical study of value. It is either the collective term for ethics and aesthetics—philosophical fields that depend crucially on notions of value—or the foundation for these fields, and thus similar to value theory and meta-ethics.
