The example we have is for an unmaintained machine and uses pretty old mechanisms

Hello!

I'd like to mention that we could use MACHINE_ESSENTIAL_EXTRA_RDEPENDS instead of the IMAGE_INSTALL:append that the example is currently using. There is no mention of MACHINE_ESSENTIAL_EXTRA_R[DEPENDS/RECOMMENDS] and MACHINE_EXTRA_R[DEPENDS/RECOMMENDS] in the slides yet.
