Doing so would allow Astroport shared video available through Kodi.

Should be doable, not sure what Astroport is, do you have a link to that resource?

And would the json be loaded from ipfs or from local disk or something?

Astroport is a distributed information system based on IPFS mapped on a planet, anyone publish through TiddlyWiki located on 0.01° slice ground level. Any one can share but titles and content must match to be published at the upper planet zoom level. Astroport.ONE is the code maintaining swarm and data keys in sync every night.
