Automated backup and restore would be a really useful feature.

It can be quite easily implemented using https://github.com/wal-e/wal-e

A first running proof-of-concept of a dockerized postgres with wal-e backup is here:
https://github.com/sebastianneubauer/docker-postgres-wale

Things to discuss:

optional or every instance?
which storage backend available, how to configure it?
how is decided/discovered, if it should be restored, or build from scratch
