Reputations are important in the digital world, as a means to filter out noise and problematic actors. Within a community on Ariton, individuals will build up reputations connected to their identifiers.
Ariton replicates reputation in a similar manner as the real world. This means that Ariton attempts to mitigate problems that occur with gaining influence by purchasing votes, likes and followers with monetary payment. Reputations on Ariton are not global, they are connected to the community and your connections.
Reputation becomes important in other features such as the Marketplace, but also elsewhere in a community.
Reputation should be based upon the social graph of individual users, and not a global one. Global reputations are prone to manipulation and Ariton will not support it.
Reputations should be based on user's social graph and Community social graph. It should display in a manner that allow users to see both of them in the UI of Ariton.
We want to separate the two, because within a community the reputation can be manipulated and distorted, because reputation entries can be written between strangers.
