We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Developer to join our engineering team. As a Backend Developer at ActivateStaff, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our innovative staffing platform, helping to improve the job search experience for millions of users.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of robust, scalable, and high-performance microservices, owning all parts of the development process from design to deployment. Our tech stack includes flexible, resilient tools like NodeJS, MongoDB, Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain server-side applications, APIs, and services that support our web and mobile applications.
• Own and manage the cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and optimized for cost and performance.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and security to ensure a seamless user experience even under heavy load.
• Break down large technical challenges into simple solutions that can be built and maintained by less-experienced team members.
• Contribute to the overall technical architecture, interacting with various cloud providers using infrastructure-as-code best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and business owners, to understand requirements and design efficient and effective backend solutions.
• Create maintainable and effective integrations with third-party partners, working within the constraints of their systems to improve our own.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Backend Engineer, developing and deploying production-level applications.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js.
• Solid understanding of database systems, data modeling, and query optimization (NoSQL - We use MongoDB).
• Experience with designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Solid experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, and their related services.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in a distributed system.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in an agile development environment.

Nice-to-have:

• Knowledge of GraphQL and related technologies.
• Experience working with an event-driven architecture
