W.C. Beatty recalls boats, captains, and various river men who made their living on the Big Sandy and Little Kanawha Rivers in the early 20th century. He discusses logging, lumber mill business, signals used by boatmen, equipment on boats, construction of coal barges, iron works at Ironton, Ohio, river hazards, and his river occupations. 2 tapes, 35 pp.
