Scope and Contents
Bowsher discusses early 20th century life in Springfield, Illinois: his family, schools and jobs, neighborhoods, movie theaters, hospital and medical experiences, and life as a polio victim. He also discusses life in Chicago: home life, radio, schools, gangsters, prohibition, and the Depression. Also discusses Springfield coal mines, WWII, aging, and treatment of the elderly in nursing homes. 12 tapes, 700 mins.
