How to Run the Automated Network Interface Configuration Analyzer (ANICA)
=========================================================================
--------------
Prerequisites:
--------------
1. Ensure you have Python installed on your system.
2. Install the required Python packages using the following command:
>> pip install -r requirements.txt
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------
Steps to Run:
-------------
--------------------------------
Step 1: Prepare the input files:
--------------------------------
- An Excel file containing the interfaces (e.g., `interfaces_xxxxx.xlsx`).
- A text file containing the network configuration (e.g., `run_formal_xxxxxx.txt`).
------------------------------------------
Step 2: Open a terminal or command prompt:
------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
3. Navigate to the directory where the script is located.
---------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------
4. Run the script using the following command:
----------------------------------------------
>> python index.py --interfaces_file <path_to_your_interfaces_file> --config_file <path_to_your_config_file>
Note:
Replace `path_to_your_interfaces_file` with the path to your Excel file containing interfaces.
Replace `path_to_your_config_file` with the path to your network configuration text file.
--------
Example:
--------
If your files are named `interfaces_20230620.xlsx` and `run_formal_20230620.txt`, the command would be:
>> python index.py --interfaces_file interfaces_20230620.xlsx --config_file run_formal_20230620.txt
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------
Output:
-------
The script will generate an output Excel file in the same directory with a name in the format:
`output_interfaces_<config_file_base_name>_<timestamp>.xlsx`
The output file will contain:
- A sheet named 'Interfaces' with the interfaces and their descriptions.
- A sheet named 'BVI Interfaces' with the BVI interfaces found.
- A sheet named 'BVI Details' with the BVI interface details and their associated bridge domains.
----------------
Troubleshooting:
----------------
- Ensure the input files are in the correct format and paths are correctly specified.
- Check the console output for any error messages and resolve any issues indicated.
For further assistance, refer to the script documentation.
