The term environmental and social management systems (ESMS) refers a system to identify, assess, manage, and monitor environmental and social risks and impacts on an ongoing basis. The ESMS provides for to the organizational structure, responsibilities, policies, procedures and resources essential for successfully implementing social and environmental management programs in a structured way. An effective ESMS is a dynamic and continuous process initiated and supported by management, and involves engagement between the Abadi Project, its workers, local communities directly affected by the project and other stakeholders.
