Thank you for you work on this lib. I opened this feature request at SMASH, for an option to disable the background GPS logging, to save battery. But it seems that the lib does not allow that. Is it possible to implement it?
Context:
SMASH is aimed at contributors of OpenStreetMap (the Wikipedia of maps) to collect georeferenced notes, while inspecting a place in person ("survey"), and to upload the fixes at home. In an organized map-edit-a-thon, people use the devices all the time, and the default behavior is OK.
Instead, I do my surveys when I do errands in my city, or as a tourist. So I often switch to other apps and often put the phone to sleep. The area is well-covered by the GPS, so I am fine with losing the signal and waiting the usual 2-3 seconds to re-gain it. This is the same behavior as the two big OSM maps apps, OsmAnd and Organic Maps. I am actually trying to transition away from OsmAnd to SMASH, as it is more of a GIS and more specialized to the needs of a mapper.
