The last release was in 2015, in many Linux distributions, they will only build and package the release version.
Some applications dynamic link to libyubikey, they may use the newest git commit to build, and produce errors to the older version in the system.
So could you have a new release version, users can get new features and bug fixes, and software for linux can also improve their compatibility.
