Campaign for donations to Foundation or Open Collective

Nicholas Garofalo pointed me to these board to bring in some suggestions.

These was a lot of fuz around the money-guideline in terms of using the it on social channels.
But the strict guidelines just resulted in less opportunity in financing it's own.
And that is sad.
People can donate to the Foundation via https://wordpressfoundation.org/donate/.
So far, it only brings €25K per year on the people. And despite the size of WordPress, that is too low.

So, that can be promoted.
Maybe some people don't even know this type of donation? The link is also hidden in the footer.
Maybe some people do know about the donation, but it's lacking transparancy to where the money is really going...

There are good moments to run that kind of campaigns to really ask for money: for example in december. When every business owner has sight on their end results and thinks: oh boy, instead of paying taxes, maybe i can make some extra costs by donating to my favorite software.
The months before december, WordPress can raise awereness, what happens with the money, etc

Another donation option is throught Open Community Collective, but you have over there multiple WordPress instances.

But this week - 17 january - Matt Mullenweg said the following:
_it would be great if marketing did campaigns for those two things, the donors list for the Foundation is pretty anemic:

So, that seems like a YES.

I can imagine this type of campaign is also heart warming to work on for the Marketing Team, cause you have "real" figures to work for.
