Electroplated nickel is not the hardest material. And even if there will be no problems with glass-filled filaments in the future for a couple of years, then luminous filaments are much more abrasive and grind off nickel in one or two.
Please consider pressing a thin carbide tube into the channel. Well, or at least just steel. It costs practically nothing, but it would put this hot end on a pedestal of uncompromising solutions.
