Option to pause updates

Would it be possible to add a button to pause/unpause updating the entries on the main screen?

Often the top 3-5 entries for an instance will quickly swap places making it near impossible to click the person I want to /w or read the whole post that caught my eye. Being able to hit a button to freeze everything and then read/whisper would be very handy.
