I had the same issue with a workaround:

  1. On the Google page with the failed login attempt, click on the link "Read more" of the error message.
  2. On the new window that just opened, click on the "Sign in" button ; do sign in.
  3. Reload the Player Window and the sessions is open.

Reinstalling v0.8.6 and letting it update to v0.8.7 has solved this issue, unsure if this is still true for others.

I found the problem, it causes Custom CSS to display like this, disabled it and went to the signin page again and it worked.

Hi, @Cannabis-CFG. I'm Dosu, and I'm helping the ytmdesktop2 team manage their backlog. I'm marking this issue as stale.

Issue Summary:

  • You reported an inability to sign in to a Google account on the YouTube Music Desktop App (v0.8.6) on Windows 21H2.
  • Marcandreappel suggested a workaround that involved signing in through a new window, which worked for some users.
  • You mentioned that reinstalling v0.8.6 and updating to v0.8.7 resolved the issue.
  • Sebasee009 found that disabling Custom CSS allowed successful sign-in, providing another solution.

Next Steps:

  • Please let us know if this issue is still relevant to the latest version of the ytmdesktop2 repository. If so, you can keep the discussion open by commenting on the issue.
  • Otherwise, this issue will be automatically closed in 14 days.

Thank you for your understanding and contribution!
