Jerom Aerts provided a good idea that we should consider in following releases:
I have a suggestion for improving the MetSim tool set. One thing that I miss or missed is that the metadata/provenance of the forcing file that is used as MetSim input is not included in the metadata of the MetSim output. I can only find a path to the location of the forcing file. I think this poses problems for data storage and reproducibility. My experience is that when a study is finished not all data can be stored or published due to limited storage space. It is not inconceivable that data users will remove the original forcing file and only store the MetSim output for the record. This would mean that any perturbations made to the forcing before using MetSim will be lost. A likely result would then be a lack of reproducibility of the MetSim output.
