I have ported this code over to .net core but didn't want to infringe on your project. I removed the DNS class and used .net's DNS. Also, I made the methods async.

Which version of .net core are you trying to target? I am thinking about making a .net standard library that can be shared across .net and .net core, but different versions of standard target different core and full

I had to do a standard 2.0 because of various system.net features.
