It’s nice for debugging, but this should be something configurable in a production package, to avoid spurious text on stdout when used by other software. Make a logging function that can be configured through an initialisation function, keyword argument, or something like that.

Could you provide an example of this as I'm not sure what is being printed for debugging purposes?
