Orca slicer developer(s) have bridged the mandatory cloud upload originated in Bambu slicer, called it the "stealth mode". Thank you for that, for bringing more sense to a software as straightforward as a 3D slicer.
Next step should be enabling user to click the Filament settings on main screen and instantly enter all parameters related to the Filament, save those setting under preferred name chosen by user, select that setting in whatever project user wants, for whatever printer. Slic3r had that, Prusa Slicer runs like that forever. But Bambu/Orca had to change that to the most irritating/restrictive workflow. I couldn't even imagine that could happen! There's so little sense in disabling filament profiles for printers in printer list, inability to copy filament to a certain printer (since the filament is not available for other printer, by default), those mandatory questions about brand and type... I decided not to use Orca until this is fixed.
Maybe that system could be helpful for those who don't know what to do with filament settings and have just one printer. Hovewer, I'm sure there are plenty of us who don't care about presets and don't intend to spend time on "registering" the Filament in "Filament data base" and wondering what to do with the other printer which is using the same filament.
If I didn't like the Orca Slicer project, I wouldn't even bother to write here about this major flaw.
Maybe this would sound irrelevant to some.
Thankfully, we still have a choice.
