Sonnet L2 Cache SRAM

Of the four known versions of the Sonnet Crescendo 7200 there are the following known L2 cache configurations:

  • G3-400/512 with .5MB 133MHz 7.5ns access time with MT58LC64K32D9-7.5
  • G3-400/1M with 1MB 200Mhz 5ns access time with KM736V799T-50
  • G3-500/1M with 1MB 166Mhz 6ns access time with GVT71128G36T-3
  • G4-400/1M with 1MB(unknown L2 cache but assumed the same as 400/1M)

The 512KB card has been successfully upgraded to 1MB, chips used were CY7C1347G-250AXC-ND (250MHz), though any speed grade could be used from 133MHz and up. It is recommended that 200MHz are used on the 400MHz Sonnet as it will reduce the amount of configurations of the Sonnet.library that are required.

Currently the library will configure the L2 cache speed as the list above but other settings are software defined and possible.
