The tables use a smaller font size than the non-table text. If the tables had contained many columns or there were other reasons to restrict the font size (such as the need to keep the contents of a cell on one line), then smaller text would be warranted.
Since, however, the tables contain two columns, there is no reason for the text to be small. It would be easier to read if the table text were the same font size as the non-table text.
