Update figure requirements

Objectives

• facilitate document revisions
• improve rendering quality (print and web)
• facilitate translations
• improve accessibility

Requirements

• for each figure, the following one or two files must be provided:
  • source figure: figure in its native format and resolution in one of the following formats: PowerPoint, Word, Visio, SVG, PNG, JPEG, JP2, TIFF, DPX
  • rendered figure: 4" width with 10 pt text (1200 px with 40 px text if it is a bitmap) in one of the following formats: PNG, JPEG (only if the source is a JPEG), SVG
  • alternate text if the main prose element is HTML and contains alternate text

If the figure contains technical text, then the source figure must be provided in a format that allows the editing of the text and the rendered figure must be SVG.

The source figure can be omitted if it is identical to the rendered figure.
