Use jitpack first if needed.

@CovertJaguar Now I am trying to implement Railcraft/Railcraft#1310 and find it hard to get a usable railcraft api jar. The source code one is not compatible as sc reborn uses a different mapping.

Hmm.... this is honestly a bit beyond my experience.

I'd be ok with prepackaging it and shipping it through the Forge dependency fetcher, but I have no idea how that works.

In the long run that's probably the best solution. It would mean some changes in the main repo.
