What steps will reproduce the problem?

Does not detect USB Flash drive on Inspiron 530

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
 - Error 81 - no devices found

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.4.6a 7 March 2104 grldr

Please provide any additional information below.

ICH9 chipset PCI ID 8086 293A

Plop does detect USB drive.

Tried from Power On and Reboot from grub4dos.
The LED on the flash drive flashes rapidly during execution of usb --init, but 
no devices found. Tried two different types of flash drive.
Plop can detect both flash drives.

My DELL laptop. Installation usb3.0 host controller. 
The first usb - init, return error 81. 
Second usb - init, success. 
For different USB Flash drive , are the same. 
In other computers is not the case.

The same flash drive is detected on Asus EeePC and Acer 8341 laptops.
Only Dell Inspiron 530 has problem.
I tried usb --delay=3 but did not affect result.

If I boot to Plop from CD on Dell 530  (it only has USB 2.0 ports), then it 
detects USB drive and boots from it.
So there is some issue with g4d usb driver?

P.S. I do have a Renesas USb 3.0 controller card on PCI bus

Would that cause a problem?

On EeePC - I get a load of numbers on screen.

On Dell 530 it stops after
... Scanning USB devices ...


No numbers!
I can CTRL-ALT_DEL to reset.

In graphics mode, can not display information. Should in text mode. 
If the boot to the menu, you must perform graphicsmode 3. 
Or when you start, mad press c to enter the clean command line.

I use #17 grldr
Boot from USB flash drive on Dell 530 - no menu.lst so boots to console.
graphicsmode 3
usb --init

... Scanning USB devices ...


Works OK on eeePC using same flash drive.

I think it is (see attached (md)0x41 dump), but nothing at (md)0x66.

Also, on Asus EeePC 904HA, usb --init hangs after ... Scanning USB Devices ...

It seems, usb host controller does not work.

cat --hex (md)0x5ff480 gives Disk read error  = BFE9:0000
cat --hex (md)0x7efff0 gives disk read error

Maybe bios area is protected?

Yes, I boot from USB 3.0 Corsair Voyager Flash drive on mainboard USB 2 front 
panel port.
My system also has a Renesas USB 3.0 PCI card fitted to PCI bus (but no drives 
connected).

Depressed.
Boot even  without  from usb2.0 device, at least usb2.0 device is inserted, 
otherwise how to verify a proposed  1 floor?

In grldr,where is usb2.0 drive, he can not drive usb3.0 devices.

Same result if USb 2.0 flash drive in USB 2.0 port.

Plop works OK with both USB 3.o and USB 2.0 flash drives in USB 2.0 port on 
Dell 530.

For information.
USB 2.0 ports/devices not detected on a Z87-A board (either release version of 
46a or the test download in #47 above.
Plop also does not detect any USB drives on Z87-A board (probably too new a 
chipset).
