A markdown package was recently released https://pub.dev/packages/flutter_markdown
So would be nice to incorporate it.

For UX, we could think of providing a simple one line guideline below comment/post input fields at first on the various directives of markdown.

We were already using this for displaying the community guidelines. However I do not think supporting the full markdown is a good idea. We can provide some basics like slack and whatsapp as bold, italic, underlined, but whole support of embedding images, shifting text direction and the likes will make the timeline look like a scrambled newspaper.

👍 for only having limited options. Bold, italic, and strikethrough are pretty much expected these days.

Quotes would possibly also be nice.

And maybe inline code (very useful when talking code, or just for separating an instruction like Menu > Settings > Application settings from text).

I think limited options are okay, but some other useful markdown elements can be those of github:

  • List, since they are really intuitive?
    • Not necessarily with nesting
  • Headings, I'm not sure if this would be really good?

Maybe only first

(second) level

to give the post a little bit more structure?
