Update A1469 to tvOS 8.4.x

I want to get an Apple TV A1469 from Ebay and jailbreak it.
Tethered is not suitable for my application.
Can i always update the A1469 to tvOS 8.4 before starting the jailbreak?
Sorry, i dont have the hardware at the moment to test it, and people on Ebay are not sharing the tvos ;-).
