With the black squares on white bg, I killed the app (or whatever you call it when you press and hold the home button until the active apps wiggle and you press to delete), trying to get to the initial settings page so I could change colors to a less problematic color pair. When I relaunched the app, the screen just goes and stays completely black. As soon as I hit the home button, the homescreen appears as usual np, but when tap the touchrecorder icon, again the same all-black screen.

tried black circles on white bg, size 50, and after having the same issue with it not recognizing the taps (referred to in Troublesome Color Combinations (#2)), I killed and relaunched, and although screen flashed all black for a second, it went to the settings page immediately afterwards w/o any issue.
Were you connected to a computer during this time? My guess is you started this process by running as a project from Xcode, and then used the fast app switcher to kill the app. You can't really do that while you're debugging connected to Xcode...it generates this odd behavior. Please close this issue if so.
