Overview
The NEAR Infrastructure Committee is committed to the growth and sustainability of the NEAR ecosystem. We will fund selected NEAR wallet builders $50,000 each quarter to cover operations, maintenance, and continued improvements.
We believe wallet operators should find ways to be self-sustaining. Some already are, but others have asked for the Infrastructure Committee to fund their operations. It’s unfair for the Infrastructure Committee to only “bail out” wallets that aren’t covering their costs.
While the Infrastructure Committee is not the primary funding source for wallet operators, we are eager to support plans for self-sufficiency. We can fund these efforts through this committee and other mechanisms like the NEAR Foundation or Potlock.
However, the Infra Committee is interested in users having continued access to the most popular and vital NEAR wallets, regardless of the wallet operator's business prospects.
Thus, we will fund a set of NEAR wallets for one year at a standard funding level that we feel can “keep the lights on” and make necessary improvements and fixes.
Support Criteria
The Infrastructure Committee aims to support the top wallet or the top two wallets across various categories (e.g., browser, mobile). Since wallet usage can vary and different types of wallets can change in importance over time, the committee will select which wallets to fund. This approach ensures a fair and dynamic selection process.

How to Apply for Support
Wallet operators do not have to submit a proposal to be considered for funding. But suppose you’d like to submit one (e.g., to ask the committee to reconsider what counts as ‘top two’). In that case, you are welcome to do so at The Infrastructure Portal.
Any submitted proposals will be reviewed regularly at each committee meeting, which is happening weekly, with additional meetings to address urgent matters. This ensures that all proposals are given due consideration and that the process is transparent and predictable.
