Hardware SID support? #180
Comments
MiSTer is about simulating as much hardware as possible. If you want experience with real C64 and it's real addon i suggest to buy some modern replica in C64 case. Both cases and boards are in production. Such as C64 reloaded. I have it myself too. |
Well we already have the mt-32 addon, why not a sid addon for more authentic sound for the audiophiles? =) |
The amiga core (and real amigas) can already use the sidblaster through usb btw, tunes can be played in hippoplayer. But that is kinda meta. It would be cooler in the c64 core where it makes most sense. |
i talked to a friend about this now, it seems hard to do, so feel free to close this issue. |
MT32 is a simple and standard MIDI addon which is supported by many cores unlike custom addon just for one system. Especially kind of useless addon. I know, i know, you will say it can play music. But that's all. Outside of specific player it's useless. I'm sure you can connect that USB addon to PC and play the same music. It's not like MIDI addon which used in many games on PC/Amiga and other cores. |
I was hoping it could be used to play the ingame music. |
There’s two interesting sid soundcards out there, the sidblaster nano and the usbsid-pico, they connect through usb and you put a real sid chip in and use for playback like a soundcard.
wouldn’t it be awesome to see support on mister? :)
